     The light rushing in made his eyes physically ache,
                his dilated pupils trying to focus on anything; even if it was
     just the floor beneath him. That voice, he swore he recognized that voice but they—
                                                                                               why were they so far away?

      It felt like his head was being wrenched from his neck,
           but the tapping was so delicate he hardly felt it.
  Steve saw it, the blackness beginning to encircle his already watery vision and,
                   in a panic, he tried to get out whatever he could
                                                        before the darkness took over again.

                          “Don’t…” He was forced to swallow, his mouth and throat
                                     bone dry after having not been used for so long. “Don’t lea-…”

A slow blink, he felt the room spinning before
      his eyes closed and his body fell limp,
                  straining forward against the bonds holding him up.
